I believe that we control our own fate and destiny. Up until a certain point that is.
While I do think that we can influence a lot more in our lives than most of us realize, all of us are still limited by the natural limitations placed upon us from birth by our genes.
For instance, someone with an average IQ is unlikely to become a Nobel Prize winner, just like someone who’s very short will probably never play at the highest level of basketball.
Still, that doesn’t mean that the average Joe can’t do a lot of good in the world, and improve their knowledge, nor that the shorter people can’t become proficient at basketball by honing their skills.
It simply means that a portion of our existence is predetermined by factors we can’t control. Not to mention that chance plays a role as well in the form of fortune and bad luck.
But we often exaggerate the extent to which these things influence our fate. We’re almost never talking about what we can actively do ourselves to improve our existence, and to better ourselves.
Just because there are some components we can’t manipulate doesn’t mean that we can’t control the outcome.
What is fate?

Your destiny meaning
Can we control our fate?
Yes, I believe we can control our fate to a large extent. Barring bad luck, or obvious natural limitations.
We typically underestimate the influence we can have on our own existence due to multiple reasons. We might simply be mindlessly repeating what others are saying, but it’s also the easy, convenient way out. Because why would you bother putting in the time and effort to improve things when the conclusions are predetermined anyway?
It is indeed difficult to put in the hard work, time, blood, sweat, and tears required to change our behavior. Yet, it’s well worth it in the end since we’ll get to choose our destiny instead of letting someone else control our fate.
Does fate control our life?
No, fate does not control our life, although luck and limits imposed by our very nature still play a role.
Nevertheless, almost no one is performing to the best of their abilities. Thus, it’s unknown what lives we could have if only we decided to apply ourselves. I think that we’re capable of greatly altering our lives for the better. But it’s hard, time-consuming, and requires failure and errors to succeed eventually.
Why you need to control your own destiny, or someone else will
If you don’t control your own destiny, someone else will because if you’re not in charge of your own existence, that automatically means you’re following someone else’s rules of living.
Even more, some might notice that you’re not in charge of your own fate, which might cause malevolent folks to attempt to manipulate you for their own personal gain by controlling you.
What is your destiny in life?
Your personal destiny in life is up for debate, but your evolutionary destiny is to survive as long as possible and reproducing to guarantee the survival of the species.
Your personal fate is what you make of it. It’s up to you to figure out what you want to do, and who you want to become based on your values and ethics. That way, your existence will have meaning and purpose.
Why are you in charge of your own destiny?
I believe that you are in charge of your own destiny since people are pliable, which means we can adapt to basically any given situation.
While there are some things we can’t control, there’s a great amount of stuff that we can command if we apply ourselves. I think it’s the sign of a weak mindset if you conceive that everything’s predetermined since people have shown time and time again that they can greatly alter their lives if they put their minds to it.
For instance, some people are obese for the majority of their lives, blaming their genetics, other people, stress eating, society, the food industry, and so on, only to turn it around when finally taking ownership. Once they take accountability, they open their mind to the possibility that they can actually change their existence if they choose to.
They start eating healthier, a lesser amount, and exercising consistently which will inevitably lead to weight loss. Something they obviously didn’t do when they didn’t believe that they could change their fate.
Conclusion
While I do believe that we can control our own fate, there are some things we can’t command such as our natural limits determined by our genes, and chance that’s expressed in fortune or bad luck.
Instead of worrying about the things we can’t influence, try to do your best to work on the things you can moderate to give yourself the best chance at creating the life of your dreams.
